Markey-Kennedy face off for U.S. Senate Democratic primary debate in Massachusetts

SPRINGFIELD, MASS., (WJAR) — Incumbent Sen. Ed Markey and challenger Rep. Joe Kennedy III stood 12-feet apart in a Western Massachusetts television studio Monday night for a debate ahead of the primary on September 1. It was originally scheduled for March but was pushed back by COVID-19.

After the debate, NBC 10 spoke with Republican candidate Kevin O’Connor, a 30-year lawyer.

“They’ll talk about what they’ll give to people,” O’Connor told NBC 10. “They never talk about how we’re going to pay for it. Their vision for America is just an enlarged government that will give things away and down the road, our children and rest of us, probably in pretty short order, will figure out how to pay for it.”
